Spring Detox – Detoxify the body with healthy & homemade juices

Spring is finally putting out its feelers and our tired bodies find it difficult to get going after the long winter months with hearty food and little exercise. In order to awaken our energy from hibernation and to detoxify the body, here are two delicious and incredibly healthy juices you can make yourself - without an expensive juicer.

When and how to detox?

There is no wrong time for a detox cure, but the body is more stressed after the winter than after the summer. Depending on the detox area and the foods or herbs used, a detox or purification program can last up to several weeks with 2x days per week. However, before any juice or detox regimen, you should always do a colon cleanse to bring your body to a neutral state. You can either take Epsom salts or do a colonic. Dried fruit, sauerkraut or ripe papaya with seeds also effectively cleanse and detoxify the intestines.

After the colon cleansing, you should avoid everything that is not good for the body:

  • alcohol

  • nicotine

  • Poor husbandry meat

  • Fast food

And instead, other foods lead to you:

  • Fruit Vegetable

  • healthy protein

Which fruits and vegetables are particularly suitable for detoxification and purification cures?

  • horseradish, ginger

  • tomato

  • carrot

  • celery

  • cucumber

  • spinach

  • fennel

  • Beetroot

  • Apple

  • pear

  • strawberry

  • Citrus fruits: lemon, lime, grapefruit

You need these kitchen utensils to prepare delicious detox juices

Depending on requirements: sterile bottles, strainer, bowls, knives, wooden board as well as a manual juicer and a ceramic grater.

The recipe:

The green one – cucumber-grapefruit

  • 2 peeled cucumbers

  • 1 handful of basil

  • 2 grapefruits

  • 200 g melon (honeydew melon or cantaloupe)

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 2 mint leaves

  • Approx. 50 -100 ml of water

  1. Grate the two cucumbers and the melon and collect the juice and fibers in a bowl.

  2. Chop the mint leaves & basil very finely and set aside.

  3. Completely juice the grapefruit and add to the peel with the grated cucumber and melon. Add the mint and basil and fill up with 50 to 100 ml of water.

  4. Stir and strain the contents into another bowl using a strainer. Squeeze out the remaining pieces with the cloth down to the last drop.

  5. Now add the coconut oil, bottle or enjoy straight away!

The recipe: The Red - Tomato Celery

  • 500 grams of tomato

  • 450 g celery

  • ½ cucumber

  • 1 lemon

  • Approx. 50 - 100 ml of water

  1. Grate the celery and cucumber, reserving the juice and shredded fibers in a bowl.

  2. Juice the tomatoes and the lemon by hand and collect all the pieces here as well.

  3. Put everything in a saucepan, fill up with water and stir well.

  4. Strain the contents into another bowl using a strainer. Squeeze out the remaining fibers with the cloth down to the last drop.

  5. Bottle now or enjoy straight away!

Our tip:

Fresh juices contain no fiber, which is why they oxidize much faster than smoothies. That's why you should drink the juices as soon as possible or leave them in the fridge for a few hours at most.
